LOS ANGELES — When organization Karma Rescue first pulled Pit Bull Roxy from the city pound and brought her to a veterinary clinic, she was a very shy and nervous dog. Roxy would just sit up against a wall cowering and refused to even go for walks for the first five days. It was only after a cat walked by her that she finally got up and ventured over to investigate her new friend.

The rescue staff noticed the dogs interest in their resident cat and so they decided to set up a monitored interaction between the two. As it turned out, Roxy was great with the cat and the staff added, “good with cats” to her online profile. That’s when Drew Sharra and Glenn Platt took note of Roxy’s profile and contacted Karma Rescue to foster her. The couple then set up a meet and greet with their Pomeranian and their three cats to see if the dog would be a good fit for them.

- Roxy was rescued form a city pound where she faced the risk of euthanasia.
- She wouldn’t even walk for five days until she saw a cat walk by.
- Roxy loves her new family.
- She gets along with all 3 cats and the feisty Pomeranian.
- The Pit Bull has particularly taken a liking to the beach.
Roxy fit right in with her new family and while she was still was suffering from fear issues that left her frightened of everything from our noises, to the wind, she was starting to get more comfortable. Slowly Roxy began to come out of her shell and was able to join her family on longer walks. Then one day she made it to Malibu beach and discovered the water and from that day forward she became a beach dog. Today Roxy loves going to the beach and hanging out with her family. Sharra reveals, “Roxy is happy, healthy and the most loving, sweet dog I could ever imagine.” Sometimes all it takes is patience and lots of love to help abandoned dogs to flourish.
