HUGHSON, CA – When Jason Harcrow, a UPS driver, went to work last Tuesday he probably never thought he could become a hero and save a puppy’s life. But he happened to be in the right place at the right time and thanks to him, a puppy got a second chance in life.
He was driving and doing some deliveries in the area of East Hatch and Mountain View roads when he saw an old blue farm truck speeding off after tossing a puppy on the side of the road.
It breaks my heart to imagine the confused puppy in a cloud of dust chasing the truck. I cannot understand how someone could do such a thing and why. Luckily, Jason Harcrow was there ready to step in.
“It was being stubborn for a while (staying out of reach). … I tried to grab him and he was kind of playing with me. I didn’t want to get down on all fours, so I was just kind of swiping for him”
When he finally got him, he called Stanislaus County Animal Services but he couldn’t wait for the arrival of the officer, so he decided to take the puppy with him while he did some more deliveries.
Eventually he took him to the Hughson police substation, where the puppy was collected by Animal Services. Now the puppy, named Biscuit, is waiting to see if his owners appear, otherwise he will be neutered on Monday (June 20th) and available for adoption on Tuesday. I just hope that if the owners do appear, there is an investigation to determine that they weren’t the ones tossing him in the first place. Otherwise they shouldn’t get him back.
The adoption fee will be $90, which includes neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. If you are interested in giving Biscuit the loving home he deserves, you can contact Stanislaus Animal Services at +1 209-558-7387 or visit them at 3647 Cornucopia Way, Modesto 95358. He deserves a happy ending…
