A video posted on North Yorkshire Police’ Facebook page shows a truly heartwarming reunion between a police dog and his handler. There is no doubt those two really love each other and even if the police officer was only absent for two weeks, the excitement his dog feels is contagious and you can’t help but smile.
Police Constable Marc Richardson has been Dutch’s handler for 5 years and they have created a very special bond. Dutch was only 18 months when they were paired up and now he works as a general purpose dog. His skills include “searching for suspects and missing people, locating objects dropped or concealed during a criminal incident, following a track left by a person on the ground, chasing and detaining a person who runs away when challenged to stop, disarming violent armed suspects and controlling hostile crowds”.
PC Richardson says that as long as he is fit, healthy and happy, he’ll keep working with him and once it’s Dutch’s time to retire, he will take him home with him to become his pet. Dutch is already part of his family, he has taken him home in several occasions to disconnect from work and even his daughter named her teddy bear Dutch in his honor.
This video was shot at the police kennels in Northallerton, North Yorkshire and it’s not only Dutch who gets really excited for seen Marc after his two week holidays, but also little Bailey, another police dog who also works with him. Each dog has its own way of expressing their happiness and they are both very sweet.
The video already went viral and is making a lot of people happy and not just because of the way Dutch jumps into his handler’s arms, but because you can see a bond that goes beyond that moment and you can feel their love.
