CHRISTCHURCH, New Zealand — When the Christchurch Bull Reed Rescue brought an exhausted Pit Bull off the streets, she was too frightened to let anyone get close to her. The girl named Nala would spend weeks at the back of her cage, refusing to trust the humans that approached her. Despite the persistent efforts of the rescue owner, Abbey Van Der Plas, Nala could not overcome her fears and learn to trust again.
Then one day Abbey had an idea- to connect Nala with a human that may be slightly less intimidating for her. Abbey brought in her 7-year-old son Zach to help Nala come out of her shell. As it turns out, she was onto something because Nala became an entirely different dog once in the presence of the young boy. Abbey filmed the entire heartwarming meeting and was surprised to see the dogs incredible transformation.
Since Nala’s first meeting with Zach in March, she has now become an entirely different dog that is learning to trust all humans once more. In fact, Nala has changed so much that she is now ready for her very own forever home. To learn more about adopting Nala visit the rescues website here. In the meantime watch the sweet moment that Nala warmed up to Zach.
