LUPINO, Corsica — On April 12th, Leila Anais discovered a tiny puppy buried alive behind a store. She immediately pulled the puppy out of the dirt and bought him back to her place in hopes of helping him survive. The pup spent the night nuzzled into Leila’s neck but the next day she contacted a local rescue group to help her. Since Leila knew she was unable to give the three-day-old pup the around the clock care that he needed, she reached out to the rescue group SOS 4 Pattes 2B.
The organization then contacted Jonathon Focki, a Rottweiler breeder who frequently helps the charity out and was more than happy to take the pup in. Focki tried to place the pup in the care of one of his Rottweilers, who is currently nursing, but unfortunately she rejected him. Focki then introduced the pup to his cat Popie, who was also nursing and she immediately welcomed the pup under her care. Focki reveals that even though Popie is a cat, she still lets the puppy nestle in with her kittens and even feed from her.
Now as a one-week-old, the pup has been named ‘Life’ and is on the right track to growing up to be healthy and strong. Popie has made for an incredible adoptive mother and continues to tend to Life as if he were her very own. Focki reveals that Life will be up for adoption when he is eight-weeks-old. For now, despite Life’s cruel start to life, he is flourishing under Focki and Popie’s care.
