Are Kong toys too easy for your smart pup now? I know I’ve tried making it as difficult as possible and my dog can still get to the treat in less than 2 minutes. I’ve use different treat sizes and used all my strength to stuff them into the toy, I’ve used peanut butter to help make it less likely for the treat to fall out, I’ve tried everything! My dog will lie on his side and squeeze the sides of the toy until the treat falls out. For the tougher treats he’ll actually drop it or lightly toss it so that the food will pop out! He’s way too smart for the simple Kong toy! I’ve decided that he needed a toy with a higher difficulty level and found these smarter toys. Have you tried any of these? Or are there any you would recommend?
IQ TREAT BALL:
Put a small treat or treats into the ball, twist the ball around to adjust the difficulty level and let the ball roll. This will work your pup’s mental and physical abilities. They’ll have to paw and roll the ball around in order to get their treats. Get your dog his IQ treat ball here:
ODIN PUZZLE TOY:
Not only is this toy made to stimulate your dog, it’s also designed to be an artistic piece in your home when your dog isn’t wrapping his brain and paws around it. You fill the inner chamber of the oddly shaped toy with treats and watch as your pup has to figure out which way to turn it in order to get his delicious reward. The best part is that he can graduate to the next level by attaching another (same) Odin toy to one end of it, making it twice as difficult to get the treat out! Get your first piece or second (or fouth!) piece here:
TREAT MAZE:
This toy is not the typical ‘ball’ type smart toy. This UFO/disc toy wobbles and rocks back and forth. Your dog has to either lift or angle the toy in a specific direction to roll the treats out. This can also be made harder by plugging up the openings of where the treats can fall out. Get your own UFO saucer here:
TORNADO TREAT PUZZLE DOG TOY:
This is less of a toy and more of a food bowl. You can pour your dog’s food (or treats) into the different compartments of this Tornado Puzzle and your dog has to sniff and spin the different layers apart to get to his reward. Definitely good for those pups that eat a bit too fast! Get the Tornado Puzzle here:
My dog has one of these balls, and she spreads dog food all around the house with it. A week later, she’s trying to reach something under the fridge, it’s the treat that fell from the ball.
