LOS ANGELES — Reality television star Lisa Vanderpump, has publicly vowed to put an end to the slaughter of 10,000 dogs at the Yulin dog meat festival. The festival takes place annually, and sees the torture, slaughter and consumption of dogs in Guangxi, China. Lisa and her husband, Ken Todd were first inspired to take action, when they saw images from a previous year of the event and were moved to tears. Since seeing the images, the couple has dedicated themselves to campaigning against the festival, and even organized a protest last October.

Now the couple hopes to educate the public, even further, on the atrocities that take place at the festival and get more people involved. Lisa revealed that thousands of dogs get tortured during Yulin prior to being killed, as the people believe an increased adrenaline will make the dogs meat more tender. A myth also states that tender meat increases a man’s strength, energy and sex drive. Therefore, the slaughtering of the dogs, has become an integral part of the festival.

Just yesterday, Lisa and Ken officially launched the Vanderpump Dog foundation, which will aim to aid and rescue abused animals in need- locally and globally. Owning eight dogs themselves, the couple hopes to make a difference in as many lives as they can. Lisa and Ken hope that their efforts will put an end to the festival entirely.

So glad to hear that something is being done, there is no place for torture for any animal raised for food or friendship. Hopefully the next generation can be taught differently and bring about change.
Don’t forget the dogs being tortured, daily, in Thailand and other Asias, for this same reason! Please help them. I have seen some of the most hideous torture for this meat trade. What I have seen cannot be unseen and will haunt me until the day I die. I hope more people help put a stop to this. I have been trying to donate when I can and alert everyone, but most people don’t want to see the graphic nature of the torture so turn the other cheek. Donate, at LEAST! Help these animals who don’t have a choice in getting their limps cut off and left to bleed out…or being disemboweled or boiled while alive!!

Please don’t forget about dogs in the shelters too, many of them are abused as well by staff workers AND put to death, also the dogs in dog fighting rings,puppy mill dogs and strays
