DETROIT — In a heart wrenching case of animal abuse, one Husky puppy miraculously survived torture and neglect, after she turned up on the doorstep of a caring woman. The puppy was covered in blood, emaciated and suffering from a case of mange, when she wandered over to the stranger’s porch. The woman shocked by what she saw, reached out to Facebook in search of some help. Home Fur-Ever and a woman named Mandi Deveja, answered her post and Deveja rushed over to the house to pick the dog up.
Upon seeing the pup, Deveja started to cry and then drove the dog over to Wilson’s veterinary clinic, where she could get her the medical help she needed. There the dog was renamed Mandi and her journey to recovery began. The veterinarians treating Mandi, revealed that she has “the worst case of mange they have ever seen.. A highly contagious skin infection that smells so bad.. [and that] Her face and legs are mangled, [so] it’s hard to tell what happened.” Home Fur-Ever believes that the dog was either used as bait in a dogfighting ring or severely neglected by her owners.
The pup will need medicated baths, antibiotics and around-the-clock care for a week or two, to ensure her survival. Yet, despite the horrible condition that Mandi is in, veterinarians expect her to make a full recovery. Home Fur-Ever is now offering a reward to anyone who has information on the person or people responsible for this heinous act of animal cruelty.
