KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Almost two years ago, George the dog lost his Labrador best friend to old age. The two had spent twelve years together, so George took it particularly hard when Blackie passed away. His owner Jacquie Litton reveals that he was so overwhelmed with grief that she did not know whether he would be able to overcome the heartbreak.
Then one day, things started to look up for George when he received an unexpected visitor on the patio at their home. George was laying in the backyard when a duck appeared and took a liking to him. The duck approached George, nestling into him and since then the two have been inseparable. Litton says, “We have no idea where this duck came from, but he sure does love George and since the duck has arrived George has not cried one time.”
The two frequently take naps together, and the duck follows George around like he’s the best friend that she’s always wanted. The duck has even followed him inside the home where she took a nap on George’s bed with him by her side. Now Litton acknowledges, ” “Since the duck has showed up, he’s been fine. He’s not wanted in the house. He’s not whined. He’s not meeting you at the car, ya know, looking sad.” It is unclear where this duck came from but the fact that she turned up on the anniversary week of Blackie’s death, makes it all the more meaningful for the family. Take a look at the sweet friendship between George and the duck in the gallery above.
