Australian firefighters have been stripping down and posing for calendars since 1993, always for charitable causes. But next year’s calendar adds a new cause to their generosity: puppies! What’s not to like?
In the 23 years the traditional firefighters’ calendar has been on sale, they have raised over $1.1 million. The proceeds usually go to the Children’s Hospital Foundation Burns Unit and other regional charities, which have helped with the purchase of medical equipment, expand their teams and conduct research to develop more effective and less painful treatment for children with burns.
This year they will also split the proceeds with the Australia’s Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA). They are hoping that posing with puppies will help them raise even more money, plus it will also help the puppies get adopted. Another great cause!
The calendar for 2017 is currently being shot in the Gold Coast, Australia. They have been posting daily pictures on their Facebook page for a couple of weeks now and they will continue to do so until the photo shoot is over. They have had a great response on social media, just a couple of pictures have between 13k and 20k likes. It’s absolutely crazy!
But hey, how can you possibly resist? They are incredibly cute! Plus, the firefighters are not so bad themselves… Just don’t get caught up in the obvious physical display. These men -no matter how they look- actually spend a lot of time saving animals in distress. In that way, these pictures are absolutely gorgeous because they show us the fragility of the puppies safe in the hands of true heroes. And seriously… What’s not to like about that?
You can check more pictures on Facebook, on Instagram or you can visit their official website where you can buy the calendar of 2016 (if you can’t wait till next year’s). Just remember, that one has no puppies on it.
