Rexi is a very happy and loving dog, full of energy and extremely playful. But right now she needs our help.
When she was 10 weeks old she started limping, so her humans took her to the vet thinking she twisted her legs, but when the doctors took some X-rays, they came back normal. Not so long after, she completely lost the use of her front legs and the doctors diagnosed a neurological condition that makes them point upwards in the air.
Unable to find a solution to her problem, the doctors suggested to put her down or at least to amputate her front legs. However, Rexi’s humans are refusing to do either. They claim Rexi is not in pain and her legs seem to have some movement, so they are hoping they can find a cure.
They have been really trying to make it easier for her and they are refusing to give up. Since she cannot walk normally, she drags herself around using only her back legs and sliding on her chest, but this has caused her chest to sore, so her humans got her a protective vest.
They also got her a custom wheelchair but it turned out to be more problematic than helpful. Whenever Rexi ran, the wheelchair flipped upside down and her humans stopped using it because they didn’t want her to get hurt even more.
Rexi is now almost a year old and she still plays and is full of energy. Her humans recently decided to open a GoFundMe page to be able to find a specialist that can fix Rexi’s legs, or at least to find a company or an engineer that can design a device to help her move around. In only 4 days they collected over $11,000 of a $10k goal. In the last update they said they may have found a doctor that can fix Rexi’s legs.
“We never thought we would get this much support. It warms our hearts to know that people care for our one of a kind dog. We will be using every penny to find a solution to Rexi’s condition. We thank you for your continued support, we will keep you updated on Rexi’s condition”
We really hope Rexi will improve and soon enough we can give you a positive update of her new adventures.
