ESSEX, UK — Dave Foxall, a 50-year-old man from Leigh, was out walking his dog and his brother’s dog last Friday when he came across a very disturbing sight. Another owner, also in shock, pointed out a flier that had been posted around the neighborhood.
It read: “The recent level of mess on the path has become intolerable. Due to selfish dog owners, dog food laced with poison will be placed in this area of path and woods.
We hope to avoid death- but in the event of loss– perhaps you might consider both walking your dogs on a lead and not allowing them to fowl the path without removing their mess to the bins provided.”

Obviously, Foxall and other owners became quite disturbed. Someone was blatantly threatening harm, and possibly death, to dogs in the neighborhood. Foxall took the sign down and turned it into the police. A spokesperson for the Essex police department said they will investigate and welcome any tips or information.
Foxall told news reporters that there are a few less-than-responsible owners not picking up after their dogs, but that certainly doesn’t warrant trying to hurt the dogs. Anyone walking their dog in the area is urged to be extra vigilant about what their dog may be sniffing or thinking about ingesting.
