Three years ago, this Pit Bull Ter mix was surrendered to the Manhattan Animal Care Center as a stray dog. Her condition was of a dog used as bait for dog fighting but she was still described as “a hand-licking, gentle hugging, all-round snuggle bugging little girl with an open and loving heart toward every person she meets”. She was named Rihanna.
She was originally classified as a senior but after examining her teeth, they determined she was almost 2 years old. Her face was swollen, she was bruised and beaten, all of her teeth were broken off and she was underweight. They thought that because of her condition, it was best to put her down.
But almost 6,000 thousand people shared her post on Facebook and got her an opportunity with Second Chance Rescue NY, who placed her in foster care.
She stayed a year with Theresa Zavada, a long-time foster human for dogs for the rescue. Then she spent a while with Allied Dog Training and now she’s currently being fostered by one of Allied Dog Training trainers.

It has been three years since she started her healing process and she’s as sweet as can be. But unfortunately she still hasn’t found her forever home. And she deserves one.
Even though she is easy to handle, due to her history, she is uncomfortable with other dogs, so it should be better if she’s the only animal in the house.
If you think you can provide her forever home, fill in the application form following this link. She has waited for too long. Let’s keep on sharing her story hoping her future forever family reads it.
