CHICAGO —On July 6, the Chicago Police Department discovered two homeless dogs in an abandoned warehouse starving and in dire need of medical attention. The men and women responsible for the rescue immediately contacted the Trio Animal Foundation (TAF) to provide the dogs with the help they needed. What followed next was a long journey of healing for the two dogs, who now go by the names Emmy and Oscar.
When the two dogs were first brought to TAF, they were both substantially underweight and suffering from a number of other starvation-related symptoms. The dogs were hooked up to IVs until their vital signs began to improve and they could be moved onto a special diet. Emmy weighed in at 22.4 pounds upon arrival, while Oscar was 45 pounds. Both dogs needed to gain almost double the weight to return to a healthy state.
The TAF team put the dogs on special diets and showered them with love and care until finally their weight began to steadily increase. By July 22 their weight had increased significantly, allowing them to start searching for a forever home.
Emmy was quickly scooped up by one of the vet technicians named Anthony, who worked on her and immediately fell in love. Oscar, who suffered from some behavioural issues and went into boarding to resolve them, is still searching for his forever home. Have a look at their incredible transformation below.
