Last week, a dog was reported to be living on the streets of Miami. He was camped out in a cardboard box, which the neighbors believed he had been dumped in at the side of the road. They brought him food, blankets, and put tarps over his box to provide a little bit more shelter. They tried everything they could think of to try to catch him, but the dog wasn’t having it.

Finally, on a rainy day when the dog, affectionately named Joey by the neighbors, took up shelter in one of their backyards, they were able to lure him into a large crate using meat. One of the neighbors then drove him to a local veterinary hospital, where Joey was met by Animal Recovery Mission (ARM). He was flea and tick-infested, but also had some other injuries.
One of the neighbors, Julian Rovito, set up a GoFundMe to help pay for the vet bills, and donations have since poured in from all over the world, totaling more than $3,000. He was still shaky around people, but soon enough, after getting a brand new bed and getting loved on, Joey started to wag his tail and has been improving ever since.
Joey will continue to heal at the vet hospital, but anyone interested in adopting him can contact Rovito at firstname.lastname@example.org or go to ARM’s website here.
