Dogs live for us, it’s as simple as that. We are their whole world and I can only imagine how they must feel when they get abandoned by the people for whom they live for. It’s absolutely heartbreaking and impossible to digest. But then it comes a happy ending –like this one– that restores your faith in humanity because a dog found love again.

Such is Chula’s case. This 10-year old senior dog was abandoned by her owner who traded her for a younger dog. She became terrified and afraid of any human contact, which made her an unfortunate candidate for euthanasia.
Fortunately, Trio Animal Foundation came across her in an open shelter in Chicago and they knew they could –and had– to save her.
“There was something inexplicably haunting when you looked into Chula’s eyes… it was a deep sadness that told a story of loss and hopelessness. Chula had not had an easy life and we knew that this was her last chance at redemption. If we didn’t take her then, she would not live to see another day.”
Trio Animal Foundation (TAF) is an organization that helps homeless animals receive the medical care they need. They do it by providing financial assistance to shelters with veterinary care costs. They also assist in the rescue of animals and finding foster homes for them until they are ready to get adopted.
When they rescued Chula, they realized she needed help from other dogs so they placed her in a foster home with three of their rehabilitation dogs; Hazel Grace, Miller and Antler. Chula became fond of Hazel Grace and she even went with her to her doctor’s appointment to keep her calm. It’s amazing the healing power animals have…
Chula was spayed, went under surgery to repair her teeth, was hospitalized to get a complete blood test, X-Rays and medication. She was given love and care, and she slowly started pulling through.

After three months, she was ready to get adopted and soon enough she found her perfect forever home. A couple that already had adopted a couple of dogs through TAF, decided they could provide for Chula the loving home she needed. And they did. Now she shares the house with them plus three more dogs that became her new family.
This story had a happy ending thanks to the effort of Trio Animal Foundation. To provide more assistance in other rescue cases, they depend on donations.
