TEXAS – If you were to put attractive firefighters, police officers and military veterans into a hot calendar, wouldn’t it be so much better if it included rescue dogs and collect money to help them find homes? Well, that’s what the “Heartthrobs and Hound Dogs 2017” calendar is all about!
The “Heartthrobs and Hound Dogs” series is a project of Ricki Beason Rescue Photography, who wants to destroy the misconception rescue dogs have as “broken” and not equally important as designer dogs.
To achieve that, she paired adoptable rescue dogs with “heartthrob” firefighters, police officers and in the 2017 edition, military veterans. This way she promotes adopting rescue dogs and at the same time, she honors these service men. According to Beason:
“Featuring servicemen with rescue dogs is a great way to bring recognition to both the beauty of dog rescue and to show our appreciation to our firemen, police officers, and veterans”
And if that wasn’t enough, the proceeds from the sale will go to six Texas dog rescues: Paws in the City (Dallas), East Dallas Pet Rescue (Dallas), Forgotten Dogs of the 5th Ward Project (Houston), Gulf Coast & Southern Texas Animal Rescue (Houston), Pflugerville Pets Alive (Austin) and Georgetown Animal Outreach (Austin).
So the more calendars are sold, the more rescue dogs will benefit from it. And so you know, every dog featuring the calendar is available for adoption.
If you want to pre-order the calendar, here is the link to do it. Each copy costs $20 and you can pre-order yours from September 10th.
Also, there is a calendar release party on September 24th at “Doghouse Drinkery & Dog Park in Leander. The event will have the band Borrowed Tyme performing, plus there will be dogs available for adoption and the Austin heartthrobs will be there. Here is the link for the event.
