NORTH BROOK, Ill. — Almost everyone can agree, that going to the dentist is one of the most unpleasant and dreaded experiences a kid could have. Yet, one dental clinic has decided to change all of that, by bringing in an adorable assistant to put people at ease. The Paediatric Dentistry of Northbrook, has enlisted the help of JoJo, a Golden retriever who is trained as a comfort dog. Now when nervous pint-sized patients come in, JoJo sits with them or on them, and offers them a friendly paw to hold.

Staff member Veronica Renteria reveals that JoJo has had a very positive affect on the clinic and that both kids and their parents now look forward to their appointments. JoJo has also helped to lower the cost of some kids procedures, as she has reduced the need for sedatives with her naturally calming effect.
The doctors also appreciate JoJo’s presence as she makes their job a lot smoother. Most children move around a lot during a procedure, reveals Renteria, so it is helpful to have the dog sitting either on them or by their side. Renteria adds, JoJo enjoys the work too, and loves to come in to the clinic. To see more photos of JoJo, check out her Facebook page here.
