Oh em gee. If you thought you’d seen the best of odd animal pairs before, just wait until you see Poppy the Labrador mix and her foster baby, Willoughby the Wallaby. Now, I’m not sure how Willoughby came to live with his human family and Poppy, but what I do know is that he was rejected by his mother at birth and has thus needed human help to survive. He’s now 9-months-old and has been living with the Allen family in Cornwall in the UK for the past few weeks.
All four humans in the Allen family have taken great steps to ensure Willoughby has a great life by hand feeding him milk, carrots, and apples, and providing general care. However, they were all surprised when Poppy really stepped in and began to treat Willoughby as if he were her own puppy. The family says that the two have become attached at the hip ever since. The Allens couldn’t be happier that Poppy is providing a motherly role for the orphaned cutie, because it gives him contact with another fuzzy animal. For Willoughby, this is fantastic because it probably feels a little bit more natural than human contact. When she’s snuggled up next to Poppy, it may even feel like being in her mother’s pouch! All I can say is that I hope more pictures of this adorable pair emerge soon!
