PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y. — When Blossom was rescued from the streets last year with a severe eye infection, she did not know what the future would hold. The North Shore Animal League brought her to their shelter, but Blossom’s disease soon spread and staff made the tough decision to have her eyes removed. Despite the decision, Blossom’s life started to look up.
Blossom went into foster care with Radio host Howard Stern and his wife Beth, where she had a chance to recover. Fast forward one month and Blossom was ready for adoption. That’s when cat lover Susan Smith heard about Blossom’s plight and knew that she would be the perfect addition to her home. Smith already had three blind cats living with her and knew that Blossom would fit right in.
Last Thursday, Smith, and her cat brood celebrated the one year anniversary of Blossom living with them. Thanks to North Shore, the Stern’s and Smith, Blossom not only recovered but is now thriving. The Stern’s have been fostering cats for many years and have helped over 300 cats and kittens to-date. Follow Blossom and her family on Instagram.
